Dr.Wang,Xingang was born in August 1958 in Urumqi, China. In June 1983, he graduated from the English Department of Shaanxi Normal University. He transferred to the Middle East Institute of Northwest University in 1987, and served as the teacher and researcher of world history, history of international relation, and the politics and international relation in the Middle East. Working as an assistant lecturer, assistant researcher, and associate researcher, he was promoted to professorship in the year 2004.
In the past several years, he has chaired 6 Social Science Fund projects, including National Social Science Fund projects: Political research of modern authoritarianism in Syria (NO 09BSS017) , and participated in 4 of the “tenth 5-year-plan” major projects of the Ministry of Education.
His research has yielded rich fruits. His essays appeared in core journals such as West Asia and Africa, World Ethno-National Studies, The Journal of Humanities, Journal of Northwest University, and in quality newspaper such as Guangming Daily. He published more than 70 papers, including Nationalist Features of the Baath Party in Syria in the Post-Cold War Era, A Historical Study of Arabian ethnicity, Problems of Nationalities in the Turn of Century and the Impact on China, The Ba’th, Its Theory and Practice, Israel: Great Promotion of Energy Diversification and so on. Among them, 20 were accepted by the core journals and 5 were full texted by the Duplicated Information of Renmin University.
He has produced 2 monographs. One was published in 2003 by the Commercial Press, entitled General History of Middle East Countries: Syria and Lebanon. Another was published in 2003 by Press of Northwest University, entitled Syria in the 20th Century: Development of Politics, Economy and External Relations. Besides, he coauthored in 4 monographs, including Middle East Countries and Problems, which was published in 1991 by Press of Henan University.
